Astrology Misconceptions: The signs changed

In astrology, there are many many MANY misconceptions.  I think it's because people truly don't understand astrology for what it is and are constantly fed lousy information that they are expected to believe.

Have you ever heard someone say, "Oh my God, did you hear? the signs changed...  Everything we've been hearing about our personalities has been totally false."

Alright, so first of all--where is this idea the signs changed coming from?  And why?  Believe it or not, the signs never did change.  The astrology system is perfectly fine; there is nothing to worry about; but, people are probably worried because they're getting this false information from scientists.  For example, Bill Nye the Science Guy and NASA made attempts to show the signs changed by saying that American Astrologers weren't following the constellations.  Even though they are scientists, they're ignorance is very apparent to any astrologer.  They don't understand astrology for what it is.  Scientists may seem to have good intentions, but it's obvious they are trying to do whatever they can to "disprove" astrology or to make it look bad.  Scientists are expected to be believed by anyone disregarding the subject they are talking about; it's no different if it's astrology.  But that's the problem.  Scientists are able to say whatever they want about astrology and they don't have to back up their arguments because people just believe it.

If scientists, however, knew anything close to the heart of astrology, they would realize that their argument for the signs changing would be totally invalid.  If you were to do a decent amount of research anyone would know that the signs never did change.  I'm going to explain to you why the signs didn't change and why scientists are lame.

Now, when astrology first began, it was started by the Babylonians.  The Babylonians were able to determine these 12 signs by looking at the constellations.  Each constellation represented a sign, and where the Sun was found in the sky during your birth, would determine your zodiac sign based on the constellation behind the Sun.  These 12 zodiac signs were then, therefore, created based on the constellations.  This form of astrology is called Vedic or Sidereal astrology.  This is a form of ancient astrology that people followed and still do follow today.

Quite recently (I'm not sure when, maybe 100-200 years ago), a new form of astrology was created.  This astrology decided to split each zodiac sign into 30 degrees equally and base it upon the seasons.  The Aries Cusp starts on the Spring Equinox or on the first day of Spring.  This is a much more mathematical form of astrology.  Astrologers in a way perfected the older astrology and created a new form of interpretation.  Aries represents birth and new beginnings and the self.  Spring very apparent to Aries because it's when things start to grow and babies are born in nature.  This form of astrology is called Western Tropical Astrology.  America and most of Europe follow this kind of astrology.

The main difference between Western Astrology and Sidereal/Vedic Astrology is that Western Astrology does NOT follow the constellations.  I repeat: Western Astrology does NOT follow the constellations.  A person who has the zodiac sign of Leo in Western Astrology will most likely have a zodiac sign of Cancer in Sidereal/Vedic Astrology because the Sun will be found in the constellation of Cancer.   The Western Astrology zodiac is 23 degrees ahead of Sidereal/Vedic Astrology.  A Leo with a their Sun 26 degrees in Leo in Western Astrology would still be a Leo in Sidereal/Vedic astrology because then their Sun would become 3 degrees Leo.

This is why scientists are incorrect.  If they were willing to do some extra research they would know that there is two forms of astrology.  Scientists assume that all astrologers would follow the constellations, or follow Sidereal/Vedic astrology, and so when scientists saw that when some astrologers weren't following the constellations (specifically American astrologers) they felt like they needed to point that out... and it just caused a bunch of chaos.

The real question is... should astrologers follow Western or Sidereal/Vedic astrology.  In my opinion, Western astrology is more accurate, but don't believe that for a second.  I haven't studied and analyzed Astrology Charts of Vedic and Sidereal interpretation.  I just couldn't imagine myself being a full blown Cancer.  My Sun is practically on the Cancer and Leo cusp and I know I have some Leo in me.  The two different forms of astrology are just two different forms of interpretation that ultimately come from the same thing.  Just like all religions ultimately believe in God.  I've heard that Vedic astrology explains more of your life path and destiny, while Western Astrology explains the personality much more thoroughly.  Either way, both forms can explain different results for different things.  I think I will end up following both in the future because ultimately they are the same.
