The Aries Zodiac Sign

If you are born on a birthday ranging from March 21 to April 20 then you are an Aries. The zodiac belt begins on the Spring equinox or Aries cusp.  Spring is associated with new beginnings and rebirth of a new cycle.  A time where new lives are learning to explore and discover who they are.  This kind of young and childish energy is what the Aries sign is all about.

Aries is a Cardinal Fire sign.  Cardinal is one of the three qualities that the 12 zodiac signs can fall under.  Cardinal means initiative—Starting things, ambition, and aspiring to goals.  Cardinal signs have a tendency to start things and not finish them, for there is so much excitement and energy within, that it can be hard to direct it into a single project.  Cardinal houses, in astrology,  which are the 1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th house, are the most prominent and powerful houses in astrology.  This indicates that Cardinal energy is forceful and strong.

There are four elements in astrology, Fire, earth, air, and water.  Fire, represents passion, emphasis and zest for life.  Life itself can be represented by fire.  As this element is all about the experience and joy life has offer.  It radiates warmth and light for living things.   The fire signs are, Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius, which have a “larger than life” attitude and expect a great deal from it.

So if you combine a Cardinal and Fire you get an Aries.  The Aries Motto is, I Am.  Everything an Aries does will ultimately have to do with them.  For they are always learning and developing themselves.  Aries governs the head of the body.  A symbol of the self and the most prominent characteristic of a body.  Injuries to the head or face are common to those born under this energy.

The Aries energy is symbolized by the Ram.  A confident animal that goes head first into pretty much anything without a second thought.  A ram by definition is a uncastrated sheep.  Which I think is supposed to emphasize masculinity, competitiveness and aggression found in Aries energy.

The planet that rules Aries is Mars.  Mars is often times associated as the God of War—a fiery planet that aims for martian survival.  Themes that go along with Mars, are passion, anger, aggression, will, and dominance.  Once again, this clearly shows that an Aries is physical or even violent in nature.

Now I hope you don’t get offended by this, but when I think of an Aries I think of a caveman—some random person jumping into things.  Aries tend to enjoy the action and journey rather than the actual achievement.  It’s almost as though these people are seeking some kind of adrenaline rush or intense stimulation everywhere they go.

Leadership comes very easy these people.  They like to dictate and control what goes on.  It doesn’t matter if they are bad leaders, they will lead at any cost.

Common traits associated with Aries are: INDEPENDENT, DOMINEERING, SWIFT, CHILDLIKE, COURAGEOUS, ENTHUSIASTIC, DYNAMIC, BOLD, WARM, IMPULSIVE, ADVENTUROUS, WARLIKE, COMPETITIVE, SELF-CENTERED, INTOLERANT, IMPATIENT, AUTHORITATIVE, THOUGHTLESS, QUICK-TEMPERED, and SELF-CONFIDENT

One thing I’ve noticed with these people is the need for stimulation and a need for individuality, as I’ve mentioned before. Everything they do has to do with themselves. If they cannot express a, “This is Me” vibe they will simply disagree or oppose you so that they can get this individuality back.  They will not stop to contemplate the effect they have on other people. The need for stimulation and interaction from the world is what makes them happy.

If they don’t get this individual vibe, an Aries will go great lengths to get what they want.  They can be quite loud, obnoxious, and annoying.  Having Aries parents myself, I’ve experienced this first hand.  They are known as the “rude” zodiac sign and are opposite of diplomatic and fair Libra.  It helps to learn from libra.  Dominating and controlling people isn’t always the best thing.

Like I said before, they are Cardinal.  They can move from place to place and not finish much of anything.  However, once they choose to truly invest their time in something it’s quite powerful and awe inspiring. It’s very easy for an Aries to become the best at something because of their ambition and need for competition.  It’s just, you don’t normally see an Aries spending time on a particular field or one thing for too long.

Aries are also rather quick moving.  They cannot stand slow, unmotivated, stagnant energy.  They are always on the go.  It’s like they have this rhythm of movement.  When I am doing work with my dad for example, he quickly and efficiently gets work done, and gets frustrated when I am unable to keep up with his speed.

Aries have quite a temper.  Especially when they are driving.  For some reason they think they are in a race and almost at war with themselves and everything else.  I strongly advise Arian people to step back and observe their anger, quite often, from a almost spiritual perspective rather than simply allowing themselves to indulge in anger.  Their anger can lead to a constantly guilty and regretful feeling later on.

Generally, Arian men tend to have bad temper.  Arian women energy is more concealed.  Which can be neither good nor bad.  Woman are just naturally less dominant then men.  You can still see the Aries quality in women however.  For example, Arian women wear hardly makeup, and if they wear makeup it looks as though they don’t need it.  Arian women tend to be sporty or butch, but there are definitely some feminine Arian women out there.  This sign is passionate and exuberant above all and not always masculine.

Being born under the sign of Aries, means your Sun is exalted.  An exaltation makes it easy for the planet to express what it wishes.  In this case, the Sun or ego is easily expressed in whatever way the Aries chooses to express it.  This is why Aries are so self-confident and quick to make brash decisions.  They almost already know deep inside of them that they are going to do amazing things.  And it’s true, these people have a true inner spirit and passion.

Zodiac Signs for characters in the Scarlet Letter: Hester Prynne, Roger Chillingworth, and Dimmesdale

The Scarlet Letter and Zodiac Signs

When looking at the three main characters that partake in the novel, “The Scarlet Letter,” they all display different traits and characteristics that could be labeled under a zodiac sign.  In astrology, there are twelve zodiac signs and depending on the time someone is born, determines what kind of personality they will have. Hester Prynne, Roger Chillingworth, and Arthur Dimmesdale would each fit a different zodiac.  However, do to their unique personalities, each character may me given two signs rather than one.

Firstly, let’s look at Hester Prynne.  Before she even committed her sin, she presented herself as passionate, independent and someone that would prefer to act in the moment rather than to think first.  Clearly, that’s gotten her in to trouble.  When she was younger, her passionate nature had to be restricted by her parents in order to be controlled.  You can see the passionate nature in her sin and love as well.  She’s also considered a feminist or a strong women by most.  From this information alone, we can weed out most of the zodiac signs.  The only signs that really seem passionate or independent are Aries, Leo and Sagittarius.  It’s interesting how they’re all fire signs.  Fire, according to astrology, represents life and zest.  Aries is the most independent and people born Arian tend to avoid thinking before acting.  Arian people are very strong-willed and are willing to take bold risks in pretty much everything they do.  Leo and Sagittarius wouldn’t fit Hester because of this.  Hester seems to be an Aries, but the sign Aquarius seems to be likely as well.  Aquarius is an air sign, and it’s also ruled by Saturn.  Saturn can point to restriction on a persons life, and Hester has dealt with a lot of limitations and punishments.  One obvious punishment she goes through is public shaming.  Aquarius is a public sign, it rules the 11th house.  The 11th house deals with social interactions within in the public.  Aquarius is the water bearer, too.  In other words, he brings water, or “ideas,” to large groups of people.  Aquarians set the seeds of ideas, which eventually grow and become important later in the future.  Hester gives to charity and makes clothes for people.  She is seen alone and an outcast many times in the crowd, which many Aquarian people deal with because they are ruled by Saturn. They have ideas that are way too futuristic and rebellious for people in their age of time to understand.  People today consider Hester to be one the first feminist.  That’s like the most Aquarian you can get.  In summary, Hester would most likely be an Aries or Aquarius.

Now onto the cold-hearted Roger Chillingworth.  There has been only one sign that is in compassionate, power hungry, and almost psychopathic.  That sign is Capricorn.  When you look at a Capricorn, or imagine a true a Capricorn, you would see a hunch back, unemotional, and ruthless person.  I think Chillingworth fits that description pretty well.  The only emotion he had, was to take revenge over Dimmesdale.  During the battle between Chillingworth and Dimmesdale, it was described as Science vs. Religion.  The sign Capricorn is least likely to believe in a religion.  Capricorn is the most skeptic and negative.  Whether or not Chillingworth was religious, he had a thing for science.  Capricorns appreciate the facts and often times considered awkward nerds.  The sign Scorpio also came to mind when pondering Chillingworth’s sign.  If you remember, Chillingworth went through a huge identity shift on his quest for revenge.  Even his complexion changed.  Scorpio born people are constantly changing throughout life.  This breaking and putting back together of identity is a constant theme in their life.  Scorpio’s are manipulative people and sometimes considered evil.  If you do wrong to a scorpio, your life will always be haunted by them.  It makes sense that Scorpio’s are considered the sign of the devil.  They take part in actions that are occult or taboo.  Chillingworth manipulates and destroys Dimmesdale right under his very nose for a very long time.  I don’t know what other sign could actually do that.  One last thing about Scorpios is that they love to solve puzzles.  Chillingworth was searching Dimmesdale’s mind inside and out for his hidden secret.

Dimmesdale’s sign was pretty easy to come up with.  After coming up with a sign for Chillingworth, I just had to think the opposite signs.  All the signs of opposite of Scorpio and Capricorn were Cancer, Pisces, Taurus and maybe even Libra.  All of these signs are rather weak or “nice.”  Dimmesdale is weak.  He couldn’t do what Hester did.  Hester is a risk-taker Aries.  The opposite sign of Aries is Libra.  But out of the four signs, Pisces seems the most viable.  Pisces are nice, sensitive, and have a very poor footing on life.  That outlines Dimmesdale spot on.  Dimmesdale is suffering from guilt for pretty much half of the book and almost dies from the doctor, who’s trying to destroy him.  He even said that he should’ve known that Chillingworth was the doctor, when Hester was talking to him about leaving to Europe.  Only a Pisces could get in the kind of mess.  Pisces are so easy to control and manipulate.  Not only from personal experience, but research as well.  It’s very easy to take advantage of them.  They are ruled by neptune.  The planet of the sea, delusion, and fantasy.  Ironically though, pisces are pretty intelligent people.  Most likely because a pisces’s mercury sign is almost always in a fortunate placement.  The mercury sign represents your mind.  Dimmesdale has a good education and he’s a religious leader.  You’d have to be intelligent for that.  Pisces is the most religious of the zodiac signs.  In astrology, pisces rules the twelfth house.  This house is relation to God.  Dimmesdale clearly relates to God.  It’s also the house of self-undoing, which Dimmesdale clearly does to himself through his guilt.

Hopefully the zodiac signs that were chosen presented a suitable description for each of the characters.  Hester is an Aries or Aquarius because of her feminist look.  Chillingworth is a Capricorn or Scorpio because he is evil and cunning.  And lastly, Dimmesdale is a Pisces because he is religious and sensitive.

Sun in Leo

Let’s start with your Sun sign because I don’t know where else to start.  Your Sun is in Leo.  The Sun likes to be here because it’s in its home, which is the sign of Leo.  This sign is a fixed sign, which means that you are stubborn.  Your whole essence and energies in life is focused and unchanging.  The stuff you choose to do will only be influenced by you.  Leo is also a fire sign, so there is a passionate spark for life.  Combined a fire and fixed sign, you get someone who is carefree.  You can be totally laid back and cool, but at the same time, quite driven.  Confidence comes easily to you.  As a lion or kitty cat, you are naturally proud of your talents.  Sometimes, you take on the characteristics of a cat.  You have this magnetism that makes people want to see what you are.  When people meet you for the first time, they will most likely remember you because of your charisma and the impression you make on them.  Having fun, being excited, and totally hysterical is everything that you aim for in life.  Showing off your creativity and zest is very important.  This is why you may be considered an attention seeker or self-centered.  Even if you don’t really have talent or maybe you’re a little shy, making people laugh or presenting some “kind of  show” is what makes you happy; that’s what feeds your ego.  If somehow, you can’t express this creativity, you could become self-destructive or lost.  Finding your own confidence and love is really important rather than finding it from other people.  And a Leo knows that more than anything.  Leos, are most individualistic and honest.  When they love, they love hard.  When they are angry, it’s obvious.  When they are in a friendship, they will stand by your side forever (as long as the other person is loyal).  The  Leo is like a king.  If a king sees that you no longer serve him or her, then they will drop you right off.  The king is loyal to his kingdom and so he expects the same from his kingdom.  Everything is an extension of you.  If somehow you feel that the people around you are shit quality, you will do whatever it takes to get rid of those people.  Leos want what’s best; not because they are selfish, but because they are the best.  And sometimes, people can take advantage of you.  It’s easy for you to see the good in everything rather than the bad and you may feel like your generosity will be taken for granted.  But don’t let that stop you.  Your loyalty is the best quality that a Leo has.
Now that we got the typical zodiac sign description out of the way.  Let’s talk about the more interesting topics.

Sun conjunct Mercury in the 8th House

In your chart, you have Mercury conjunct your Sun.  Because Mercury is the communicator and mind in astrology, you may feel like your mind is your ego.  It’s hard for you to separate your logical thoughts from your own personality, which can be a good or bad thing depending on how your look at it.  From a positive note, this gives you a quick wit.  You can spout of random words really quickly, and somehow, it will come together quite perfect.  It’s easy for you to establish your thoughts and views with others because you are speaking the same language as your Sun.  The downside to this placement is that it may feel like you can’t step back and evaluate yourself.  In other words, it’s hard to think logically and rationally about yourself because your Sun is doing it.  It’s like water trying to put out a fire with more fire.  Your Sun, or ego, is taking so much control that it cannot look at itself because it is itself, if that makes any sense.  Ultimately, this can make you seem rebellious, quirky, or simply an individual.  Nonetheless, these people are quite child-like, expressive, and intelligent because of the influence of Gemini energy from Mercury.  You can be overly silly at times because you may feel like people don’t take you seriously.

Your Mercury is also found in Leo, making your thoughts and ideas creative.  You love to learn, but only if you can create things with your knowledge.  If your heart is not in a subject, it will feel like hell to learn that subject.  Putting your own knowledge or creative pursuits into what you are learning or understanding is important.  When you speak, you speak for attention.  You believe that what you say is the most important thing in the world, even if you’re just talking about some apples.  Sometimes, people can find this frustrating because if they don’t give you the undivided attention you think you deserve, you can get upset or annoyed.

Your Sun and Mercury are both in the 8th house.  The 8th house is like the crazy house.  It’s ruled by Scorpio, so it’s basically the house of death, literally.  You probably think about death all the time.  Irrational fears may dominate your life because your sixth sense is like, “The world is out to destroy me.”  Sometimes you can be overly defensive and any kind of vulnerability can set you off.  Being in control is very important to you.  Naturally, you are more aware of the darkness of the world than other people are.  This can make you feel rather alone or isolated.  No one understands you and your intense feelings, so in order for you to truly shine or feel life, you need that one special person to unlock the doors to set you free.  The 8th house gives meaning to relationships.  When your Sun is here, it needs that special person.  Your Sun, in a way, is under the ground and it’s saying, “Someone dig me up, so that I can be free <3.  I don’t want to be afraid anymore.”  The occult, death, sex, taxes, other peoples possessions, and secrets—all or most of these themes are going to play a significant role in your life one way or another.  You may possess psychic abilities.  You just know things for no reason.  In some ways, you are a Scorpio, because your Sun (and Mercury) is in the Scorpio’s home.  You’ve probably been lied to a ton, so you’ve learned to pick up on bullshit. Or maybe you’ve had to hide a lot of shit from people yourself to avoid any kind of chaotic environment making you extremely aware of others emotions and desires.  Either way, it’s very difficult for people to manipulate or control you.  The 8th house, from a long time ago back in the ancient times, was considered the evil house.  People who had any planets here, were doomed to suffer.  Obviously that’s not true in todays world.  But whatever it is, you will go through a lot of intense emotions.  Inside, you will feel like you’re being broken down and put back together constantly, which is why people who have placements here are quite powerful, but misunderstood and lost at the same time.

However, it may not be as bad as I have explained it.  You have many trines that are benefiting your Sun and Mercury.  Sun and Mercury trine pluto means that you are an excellent problem solver with an uncanny ability to delegate your power and intuition.  This is a very powerful place.  Sun and Mercury trine Mars shows that you have an exceptional amount of self-confidence.  Your energy can pack quite a punch in whatever it is you choose to do.  This gives you quite an Arian quality because Mars is ruled by Aries.  Saturn is trining your Sun and Mercury too, which stabilizes these planets.  As crazy as your placement is for the Sun and Mercury in the 8th House, Saturn gives responsibility, strength and endurance.  You have a strong and grounded sense of your self-esteem.

Jupiter Conjunct Venus Conjunct North Node in the 7th House

Now, a really interesting part of your chart is jupiter/venus/north node all conjunct.  Your North Node is like your destiny pretty much.  It’s what you are aiming for in this life, so that you can achieve happiness in life.  The North Node is located in a very relational and compassionate place in your chart.  Your destiny is to make lots of friends or acquaintances as well as striving for compassion and understanding.  Through the North Node, you can find the South Node, which can tell you what you have been like in past lives; what you have achieved, and what traits are keeping you from your destiny.  The South Node is right on the opposite of the North Node, showing you the opposite traits of your destiny.  Your South Node is in Capricorn in the First House.  Now I don’t want to be rude, but you were probably a dictator—some kind of ruler that was independent and alone.  It’s likely that you were psychopathic or showed little or to no empathy towards others.  Selfishness and power is something that you need to avoid.  You’ve been very self-sufficient and successful on your own already; in this life, you want the opposite.  In order to feel complete, you need to help and love others.  Combined your North Node with Jupiter and Venus, this makes you highly attractive to many people, so that shouldn’t be a problem.  Friendships and success is easy for you.  There’s no doubt that you’ll achieve this destiny.  Almost philosophic in nature, Jupiter brings you good luck and success quite easily wherever you go.  Venus brings you plenty of people and pleasures with people.  These two planets combined that are considered “good,” in the sign of Cancer aspecting your destiny, brings plenty of harmonious connections and love.  Diplomacy is written all over you.  Good things happen to you when you show compassion and love towards others.  You get what you want by working and helping others.  You get the idea.

Venus in cancer, on it’s own, basically means that you want security in your relationships.  Showing compassion and protection of the people you love is second nature for you.  Venus represents love, so you’ll most likely marry someone with Cancernian influences.  He may be a mamma’s boy or be quite emotional.  Even if he’s not emotional, he’ll be very protective of you and himself.  Venus in Cancer is a very good placement.  When you want to relate with someone, you bring them home or somewhere close to you.  You can be friends with almost anyone, but they don’t really become a part of you until you actually bring them to a connecting place.  Cooking or watching TV may seem rather boring, but doing those kinds of things with another shows that you love them a lot, rather than hanging out at a party.  That’s why it’s easy for you to write people off so easily.  You guard your heart and you don’t let people in on love unless you truly believe that it will work in the long run.  In love you are quite demanding and emotional, which isn’t a bad thing, but it’s important that the other person knows what they’re in for.

This little group of planets and your north node in the 7th house is being aspected by Uranus.  Basically, you will be rather intelligent within these relationships.  You attract people who are also intelligent.  They will be Aquarian like; free thinking and carefree.  They may be quirky or weird, but in a good way.  Finding your own individuality with others will be easy.  It’s likely that you are intuitive in your connections and will bestow plenty of innovation in your fellowships.

Saturn in the 6th House in Gemini Saturn is your restriction planet, so Saturn here will bring difficulty, but mastery.  Saturn in Gemini indicates difficulty speaking or voicing your thoughts.  You may feel dumb or stupid when expressing your ideas or thoughts, causing a serious turn of mind toward academic tasks.  Although, Saturn is a much more important in the house that it’s placed in than the sign.  Saturn in the 6th House puts restraint on your daily life.  You may be a workaholic, or feel like you need to work a lot more than the average person.  Because this house rules health and animals, they will be most important to you.  Serving others and finding your goals will feel difficult, but are very important in your success.  The 6th House is the bridge that gives value for your work, and building this bridge will be difficult, but once it’s built, the amount of help and work towards serving others will be very well established.  This is a good placement for a doctor.

I already mentioned the influence that Saturn has on your Mercury and Sun, but I haven’t brought up your Saturn influence your Moon and Neptune.  Saturn in trining those planets.  Neptune aspect your Saturn basically means that your ideals, dreams, and delusions are structured.  You are able to implement your realities into the world with ease.  This also boosts your abilities on an intuitive level because your intuition is grounded.  Your ideals and what you want to bring to the world are moral and well thought out.  Saturn trining Moon means that your emotions are structured.  It’s almost like having a Capricorn Moon.  Capricorn Moons have serious emotions, and they don’t like wishy-washy emotions.
Moon Conjunct Neptune in 2nd House in Aquarius Moon Conjunct Neptune means that you also have Pisces-like moon.  You have quite the imagination and it can take you many places.  Sometimes your emotions can dilute your feelings, which means that you may not understand where your emotions are coming from sometimes.  You feel deeply and you love deeply.  Bonding with people on an emotional level is strong with a Neptunian moon.  You have to be aware, though.  The emotions you have are subject to drainage and negativity from other people if you’re not careful.  People can take advantage of this and use you for your emotional nature making you feel empty and isolated.  Nonetheless, having Neptune Conjunct Moon brings you many wonders and experiences because you have the strong drive to dream.

Your Moon and Neptune are being opposed by your Sun and Mercury.  This means that you were born on a full Moon.  The Moon had such an impact on you, that your Sun energy clashed with your Moon energy.  Having an opposition here means your Ego (sun) and Emotions (moon) are at an off balance; this makes you ripped apart from opposite ends.  Your Sun will do one thing, but your emotions will feel disgusted by it.  Essentially, everything you do will not feel right because one part of yourself would rather do the opposite.  The Sun can also represent our wants and desires, while our moon represents our needs.  When you want something, you lack your ability to feel secure.  When you want security and peace, you feel empty and bored because you are avoiding your desires.  This can manifest in many ways.  You may work really hard for week(s) and then laze around for week(s).  There isn’t really a steady rhythm in your life.  The Sun and Moon represents the mother and father as well.  The way you view you view dad may be very different from mom.  You see Dad as this fun-loving, happy, dominant figure, while you see Mom as a little bit detached and intelligent.  It’s interesting, we both view our Mother and Father very similar.  Our Moon signs, which represent our mom, are both in intelligent and unemotional signs.  We probably have both felt that our mom was rather cold and expected a lot from us.  Our Sun signs are both in Leo, we both saw our dad as this Leo-like figure.  Anyway, having this opposition means a struggle of self-expression.  Not only is your Sun and Moon at an opposition but Mercury and Neptune are also influencing this aspect.  Which basically means that their is a ton of potential creativity and intelligence you just need to find a way to manifest it correctly.  Neptune can be a very delusional planet, so you may feel like your sense of being is very pisces-like and lost.  You’re definitely a dreamer, to say the least.  Learning a steady beat and and rhythm within your personality and dreams is what you seek.

Rising in Sagittarius conjucting Chiron

The Rising in a chart, is the role we take on in the world.  It’s the way we carry and project ourselves into the world.  Having your Rising in Sagittarius, gives you the role of the clown.  You’re very funny and always have a bright outlook in life.  Sagittarius Rising is a very good Rising to have.  Your project this lucky, confident, and driven personality.  A lot of Sagittarius risings really like to travel and see the world.  A negative trait to Sagittarius Risings is obnoxiousness.  They can be a little overbearing for people, and they have a tendency to think of everyone as shallow and dumb.  You have Gemini on your opposite half or 7th House.  So you see everyone else as a Gemini in a negative light.  You think that people pay way too much attention to the facts and details that are so shallow.  Sagittarius Risings see themselves as deep, with a kind of like looking out view of the world.  They look out rather than in the conversation like a Gemini.  Sagittarius Risings can appear aloof sometimes, and that’s why they are so funny and kind of blunt because Sag Risings don’t really care about their words or actions.  They have a very open and philosophical view of things, rather than intricate detail.  They don’t see things for face value, but with a deeper meaning to everything.

Having Chiron conjunct your Ascendent or Rising is rather unfortunate.  This isn’t necessarily a bad aspect, but it definitely puts a damper on your life.  Chiron is our wounds and hurts.  It shows us the place in which we will never be happy in life.  Having Chiron conjunct your Rising could mean severe bullying or lack of identity.  All your life, you’re going to feel like people are mean to you.  This hurt that people give you will always leave a feeling of sadness inside.  This doesn’t make you depressed, but your identity and self will always feel hurt from others.  A positive note—Chiron tells us how we can help people the most.  Knowing what it’s like to feel bullied or hurt, you can help people the most.  This placement can indicate a feminist, a strong women who helps other women or people in general who had no self-confidence themselves.  Chiron can really turn things around in wherever it is, giving you true knowledge and power.  Chiron is the key—and it’s looking to unlock hidden potential and buried wounds.

Mars Conjunct Pluto in the 12th House

The very last thing about your chart is probably the most difficult.  Mars Conjunct Pluto is a very chaotic energy.  You like to take dangerous actions, that are literally deadly or just painful.  Your energy is constantly rising from the ashes and burning.  Sometimes, you can present an aura of hurt or pain.  I’m not saying you’re doomed or anything, but this placement is quite painful.  There’s lots of dark passion here.  Many people here can be quite powerful and strong.  Both of these planets are in the 12th House—the house of unconscious bullshit and illusion.  Mars here, indicates a lack of ability to express ones actions in a productive way.  A feeling of illusion or hidden unconscious is present, disallowing you to follow through on what you’re aiming for.  Pluto here, indicates difficulty with intense feelings and power.  Power and or anything intense scares you and you don’t know why.  You may give your power away to others and then lie or manipulate people instead.  Sometimes, you can damage and hurt people through secrets or dark subjects.  Basically, Mars energies (passion and anger) and pluto energies (power and secrets) are going to be fearful to you.

Lastly, for your chart, I’m going to talk about having Mars in Sagittarius.  Mars is your anger or how you get angry.  When you get angry with people, it’s because you either didn’t see what you did wrong, or you spout of random words to people and not realize you’re being mean.  So, your energy is of Sagittarius, you can be blunt and a little uncaring about the things you say.  From this lack of understanding, people can call you out on your words and you can suddenly get very defensive and angry because you had no idea what you were saying.  Sagittarius, like I said, is very aloof and they’re not very present in their manner.  You don’t attach emotions or feelings to your words, but other people do.  It’s important to truly understand what you’re saying and that you’re not getting mad at people because they take were words for face value.

Quick Chart Interpretations for Napoleon and King Louis XVI

In class I was learning about the French Revolution, so I thought I would talk about Napoleon and King Louis.

Napoleon:

His Sun is in Leo; therefore, he’s going to want to take leadership roles.  He’s going to be stubborn and very persistent in whatever he chooses to do.  I think it’s so funny that he literally took a crown and placed it on his head himself—that is such a Leo thing to do.  All the French people loved him.  Leos are popular and are able to win the hearts of many people with the hearts of their own.  He instilled many good ideas and made a big change in the world.  Leo’s don’t care what happens they just do what they want to do and it doesn’t matter what else happens.  They will dictate and tell people what to do because that’s what they like to do.

Moving on, he has his Moon in Capricorn.  While your Sun represents your Ego and Individuality, your Moon represents your emotions.  Capricorn is a very serious and power driven sign.  Once again, it makes sense that he was so determined to become leader of France.  He climbed the ladder like the stereotypical Capricorn.  I don’t know Napoleon’s personality first hand, but he seems to be a serious person.  He was described as conservative, which is Capricorny.  He is indifferent about religion and Capricorn is logical and scientific.  Isaac Newton was a Capricorn while many other inventors and scientists were Aquarius’s.  Both Capricorn and Aquarius are ruled by Saturn, which indicates steadiness, practicality, and seriousness.

Looking at Napoleon’s 10th House, he has his Mercury and Sun in it.  Specifically, he has his Mercury conjuncted to his Midheaven.   The Midheaven begins the 10th House and has the heaviest influence on the 10th House.  The 10th House represents your career, public image; what you’re known for pretty much.  Having his Mercury where it was, was the most dominant in his image.  Mercury represents ones communication and mind.  Napoleon’s Mercury was located in Leo, once again giving him dominant and kingly views.  He speaks like a Leo; with a proud and confident attitude; in front of many people for all to hear because it’s in the 10th House.  Napoleon was a genius.  Saturn conjuncts his Mercury.  Saturn influence makes you a master at whatever.  It makes sense that he was a military genius because he needed that power for his Capricorn Moon and he used his mind and speech to obtain this power by attacking and claiming territory.  To add on, the Sun in his 10th House made him career driven.  Many famous people or people who are known for something almost always have their Sun in the 10th House.

Napoleon’s Rising is in Scorpio.  The Rising is how you appear to people and the presence you give off.  Scorpio is a manipulative and secretive sign.  Scorpio Risings are power driven and are good at masking things about themselves.  They have a presence and energy to them that is powerful.  Napoleon has his Jupiter in the first house.  The Rising sign is like the Midheaven; it’s the most important in the first  house and begins the house.  Jupiter, in astrology, represents expansion, luck, and knowledge.  Napoleon’s Jupiter in the first house gave him a very strong identity.  He is confident and his presence is easily known.  He’s just lucky in that aspect, which explains why he was able to be become emperor of France so easily.  Interestingly enough, Jupiter is squaring his Sun.  Basically what this means is, Napoleon is over confident in many ways.  He is so overconfident that he gets himself into situations that he thinks he can win, but he will surely fail.  Napoleon’s determination to take over Russia in the middle of winter is one of his most obvious examples of this aspect.

King Louis: So I don't have much to say about King Louis, BUT what's so so cool about his chart is that he has Jupiter, Mercury, and his Sun all conjuncting the fixed star Regulus.

What is Regulus?  Regulus is a fixed star that is located on the Leo and Virgo cusp.  This fixed star is one of the brightest stars in the sky and signifies Leo.  I haven't found that much information regarding the star, but I have learned that people's personal planets that come in contact with the fixed star Regulus have a very kingly stature to their personality.  Words that describe Regulus are prideful, famous, kingly, strong, noble, proud, arrogant, vain, ill, dramatic, deathly, and powerful.

Many people who have personal planets conjuncting Regulus are almost always famous or have something amazing about them.  And one of them is King Louis XVI.  He has both two personal planets the Sun and Mercury conducting Regulus.  This means that his individuality is kingly and famous in stature, as well as the things he speaks and communicates will be heard by all.  It makes a ton of sense that these planets are in conjunct to Regulus because he was the King of France.  On top of that, he has Jupiter.  Jupiter in general expands and highlights anything that it conjuncts in the chart.  So not only is Jupiter expanding and making King Louis Sun and Mercury prominent, but its combination with Regulus made King Louis almost destined to be king.

Regulus has also been associated with a dramatic death and illness.  King Louis was a lavish spender and heavily fueled the French revolution.  He ended up losing his head to the guillotine in front of everyone in the city to see.

Astrology Basics

There are four elements in astrology:
Planets  Zodiac signs Houses Aspects

Each of them help explain different parts of your personality and life.  Planets are the different types of energy you express, zodiac signs determine how the energy is expressed, houses represent where the energy is expressed in your life, and aspects show tension, harmony, and fusion among energies.  When you combine all of these components and their meanings together, it’s pretty easy to understand or research the chart yourself.

Planets (Energy) ~

Sun (Rules Leo) - Your ego or essence.  The Sun is how we go about expressing our individuality.  It’s the way we give meaning to ourselves and makes us different.  Your sun sign, is most commonly referred to as your zodiac sign, or the sign that people find out when they ask your birthday.  The Sun can also represent your father or any factor relating to the father figure.  Even though the Sun is a sun, it’s still considered a planet astrologically speaking.

Moon (Rules Cancer) - Your inner soul or emotions.  What goes on inside of you nobody else sees is your Moon.  It can show what someone is when they are alone, their deepest desires, their needs, their wants, their inner child, and motivations.  It represents the mother or factors relating to the mother figure.  Even though the Moon is a moon, it is still considered a planet astrologically speaking.

Mercury (Rules Gemini + Virgo) - Your mind and communication.  If the Moon is your emotional mind, your Mercury is your mental mind.  It’s how you process things logically, rather than emotionally.  Mercury shows the ways in which you share ideas with others.  It shows how you express yourself.  Mercury is what carries thinking from your ego (sun) to the outside.

Venus (Rules Taurus and Libra) - Your love and desires.  It is your love language.  It’s how you express love and what you need to feel loved.  Venus can tell you how open or closed you are in love.  It shows how committed you are in love.  Venus can help indicate what someone finds pleasuring or desirable.

Mars (Rules Aries + Scorpio) - Your passion and anger.  Mars represents any form of really strong emotions or feelings.  It represents physical expressions as well.  It’s like your physical energy. Mars can also explain your sexual nature.  When I try to guess someones Sun sign, I always end up guessing their mars because this energy is so apparent.

Jupiter (Rules Sagittarius + Pisces) - Your true knowledge, expansion and luck.  Jupiter tends to inflate or dominate the place that it’s in, highlighting the part in your personality.  You have more or express more of it than you seem to have or more attention is given there.  Sometimes Jupiter can make the place it’s located in too easy.

Saturn (Rules Capricorn + Aquarius) - Your control, restriction, and barriers.  Saturn has rings around it, like having something around it to keep it from moving forward.  Saturn puts difficulty wherever it is to teach you a lesson and soon you will gain some kind of karmic reward from it. You become a master in whatever it is located because the energy is forced to be expressed with a methodical approach, wisdom, and control.

Uranus (Rules Aquarius) - Your change, innovation, progression and unexpected.  Uranus is tilted on its axis, making it unique compared to the other planets.  Uranus shows where you have something interesting to bring or unexpected.

Neptune (Rules Pisces) - Your delusions, creative, and intuition.  Neptune makes it difficult to pinpoint or understand the area it’s located in, creating some form of illusion. But because Neptune represents intuition, you can see what others can not with a 6th sense based on where Neptune is located.

Pluto (Rules Scorpio) - Intense feelings, destruction, power, and rebirth.  Kind of like mars, but these are all feelings felt deeply.  These feelings are not found blindly in the open, but are secret and dark.  This planet could indicate fear or vulnerability.  This energy breaks down and rebuilds itself constantly giving the place it’s located a chaotic feel.

Zodiac Signs (Energy Expression) ~

There are twelve zodiac signs in astrology.
  • Aries - Independent, leader, lively, swift, competitive, ambitious, selfish, assertive
  • Taurus - Comfortable, materialistic, beauty, stubborn, sensible, traditional
  • Gemini - Quick minded, self-expressive, communicative, intelligent, itinerant
  • Cancer - Homey, protective, emotional, nurturing, reserved, capricious, solicitous
  • Leo - Dignified, leader, lively, creative, selfish, driven, domineering, charismatic
  • Virgo - Analytical, logical, methodical, strategic, practical, smart, perfection
  • Libra - Balanced, diplomatic, passive, selfless, manipulative, beauty, charming
  • Scorpio - Cunning, manipulative, deep, secretive, investigative, intense, dark
  • Sagittarius - Philosophical, optimistic, explorative, funny, intelligent, driven
  • Capricorn - Ambitious, cautious, pessimistic, serious, hard-working, practical
  • Aquarius - Individuality, innovation, genius, rebellious, detached, humanitarian
  • Pisces - Delusional, selfless, intuitive, dreamy, universal, lazy, escapist, creative
Each sign represents different qualities and characteristics and ultimately determine the expression of a planet placed in one of these signs.  The signs are divided up into elements and styles.  The different elements are: fire, water, air, and earth.  The different styles are: cardinal, fixed, and mutable.

  • Fire Signs (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius) are known for their passion, entertainment, and spirit for life.
  • Earth Signs (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn) are known for their stability, practicality, and value on the concrete or materials.
  • Air Signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) are known for their intelligence, communication, and ideas.
  • Water Signs (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces) are known for their depth, emotions, and psychic abilities.

  • Cardinal Signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) are known for wanting to control the environment around then.  They want to implement things to work for them.  They are the initiators of their element.
  • Fixed Signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) are known for being extremely stubborn.  They will do what they want to do, disregarding the affect they have on others or the affect others have on them.  Stubborn at heart, the energy they possess is constant, intense, and lasts forever.
  • Mutable Signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) are known for being influenced by and working with others.  They are opposite of Cardinal and are willing to provide help or support to benefit everyone as a whole.

For an example, to help understand this concept, you take a sign combination that is mutable earth.  Earthiness gives a practical and logical sense, but they are helpful and willing to change for others because they are mutable.  This is the sign Virgo.  If you were to change the earth sign to a cardinal, you would get something that is more self-serving and leader-like rather than helpful, but would still give off that practical and logical feel.  This changes from a Virgo to a Capricorn.  Capricorns work very hard in a practical manner, but are in powerful positions directing people in their own view.  A typical Virgo is rarely found in a leadership position because they would rather help people mutually than give orders in their own vision.  By doing this you can tell the difference between signs and get a more clear understanding.

Houses (Where Energy Takes Place) ~

The Houses in your chart are split into twelve different parts each representing a different part of your life.  Wherever a planet (energy) is located in a house, is the part of your life expressed in that certain way.  If you don’t have a planet in a house, it doesn’t mean that house is messed up.  Just look at where the house cusps a zodiac sign.  If you don’t know what I mean by “cusping,” your Rising Sign (AC) is your first house cusping a sign.

1st House - Self and Identity (ruled by Aries)Also known as your Rising or Ascendent Sign (AC).  This is your self projection. This is what bridges you to the outside world and bridges the outside world to you.  It’s your cultivated identity and personality.  It’s what you want people see and describes how you prefer to go about life.  In many ways, the Rising Sign gives you the eyes and role of the sign it cusps.  For example, if you have a Gemini Rising, you take the role of the communicator and intellectualist.  If you have an an Aries Rising, you take on the role of the leader or competitor.  Remember, you only take on the role, your personality may be something else.  As another example, I have a Capricorn Rising, so I take the responsible and serious role, but my personality is fun-loving and carefree.  People see me as a cold person, when really I’m much warmer.

2nd House - Values, Possessions, Money, and Self Worth (ruled by Taurus)
After you have an identity, you need your second house to give your first house worth.
3rd House - Communication, Neighbors, School, and Siblings (ruled by Gemini)
Once you’ve been established the 2nd house, the 3rd house establishes your surroundings and the way you get your thoughts and ideas to others.  It’s passing knowledge on a day to day basis.
4th House - Home Life, Beginnings, and Family (ruled by Cancer)
This house is opposite your midheaven and can be referred to as your Medium Coeli (IC).  It tells you what it was like in your childhood and home.  This house can also explain your mother’s influence on you.
5th House - Pleasure, Hobbies, Romance, Children, and your Creativity (ruled by Leo)
Pretty much anything that is enjoyable will be located in this house.  It’s the house that shows what you like to do for fun.

6th House - Daily life, Work, Diseases, Enemies and Pets (ruled by Virgo)
This is the last selfish house.  It determines the way in which you get your skills and goals out into the world in a step by step manner.  Enemies, pets and diseases are found here because they can get in the way of your goals.
7th House - Relationships, Marriage, Your “Other Half.” (ruled by Libra)
Anything that deals with other people is found in this house.  This house is the Descendent (DC) opposite of your Rising Sign.  If your Rising is how you want to appear, your descendent is how you see everybody else.  It’s what other people have that you don’t.
8th House - Death, Rebirth, Secrets, Occult, Sex, and Deep Emotions (ruled by Scorpio)
Relationships are scary and probably one of the most important things in the world, which why this house has a lot of taboo things in it.  Relationships force us to look at things are uncomfortable and full of depth.  Emotions and fears for example.  8th house is what gives meaning to relationships as well as sharing your power and resources with others.
9th House - Expansion, Travel, Exploration, Teaching, and Beliefs (ruled by Sagittarius)
Unlike the 3rd house, which is communicating thoughts and learning on a daily basis.  The 9th house are ideas and thoughts that are really important to you.  You can get an idea of how someone believes by looking at their ninth house cusp, like if they’re religious or not.
10th House - Career, Public Life, and Internet (ruled by Capricorn)
Also known as your Midheaven (MC).  This is your public image.  It’s what people see when you are at work or in front of a large amount of people.  In many ways, you could refer the Midheaven (MC) or 10th House cusp as your second ascendent.  This house can also explain your father’s influence on you.
11th House - Colleagues, Social Connections, Hopes, and Dreams  (ruled by Aquarius)
Gives meaning to your career an image.  If you don’t have people to work with you and if you don’t have a purpose then what’s the point of the 10th house.
12th House - Self Undoing, Aloneness, Vulnerability, Unconscious (ruled by Pisces)
This house is a kind of a confusing house.  It essentially wraps everything up in your life and kind of just contains things that we don’t really understand.  It’s the part of us that we don’t want to really accept.  This house has a lot to do with our relations to God or the universe.  The subconscious is found here.  It could also represent the breaking of ourselves and starting over as it is the end, while the first house is our beginning.

Aspects (Tension, Harmony, and Fusion of Energy) ~

There are three main aspects that tell you something about planets within your chart.

Conjunction - Two planets 10 degrees within one another and fuse energies together.  For example, if someone’s mars and venus were conjunct, the way they love in relationships (venus) and the their passion and sex (mars) would become one.  They would display both male and female energies, making them androgynous and super attractive.  Conjunctions are considered the most powerful aspect.

Trine/Sextile - Planets that harmonize energies with each other.  For example, someone’s Saturn trine Sun would give someone’s ego (sun) structure and discipline (saturn).  If someone has too many trines, or only trines in their chart, they tend to be lazy; they’re not achieving much in their life.

Opposition/Square - Planets that have opposing or clashing energies that need to be worked out.  For example, someones Saturn square Sun would make someone’s ego feel too structured to the point of feeling restricted, which then causes depression and lack of self-worth.  Squares are difficult things to work with, but overtime can build character and endurance making the person quite successful.

Chris Mccandless’s Chart Interpretation

Chris Mccandless’s Chart Interpretation

I decided to do a quick chart interpretation of Chris Mccandless.  If you haven't read the book Into the Wild which is about him, this chart interpretation won't be as interesting.  It's really interesting to point out that the book relates to his chart quite a bit.  This is also a pretty average interpretation and I probably missed a lot.

So the first thing I’d like to point out about Chris Mccandless is that his Sun is in the zodiac sign Aquarius.  In other words, he is an Aquarius when you look at astrology from a basic perspective.  You know how when you ask someone, “What’s your sign?”  That’s his sign.  The Sun sign is your general personality.  So for Chris, because his sign is in Aquarius, he’s going to be rebellious at heart, a natural innovator, and super intelligent.  Aquarius’s are the water bearer.  They always have ideas that are profound and way beyond their time.  McCandless’s Rising sign (AC), which is the beginning point of the first house, is in Gemini.  The rising tells you how someone appears.  Having a Rising in Gemini makes someone appear intelligent.  Learning and exchanging ideas is the role they take on life.  McCandless probably read a lot of books, or appreciated learning in general.  Socially, he probably couldn’t sit in one conversation too long without getting bored.

Moving on, his Mercury is also in the sign of Aquarius.  Mercury represents the mind, so not only is his personality aquarian-like, but he also thinks like an Aquarius.  Jupiter, in his chart, is in the 4th house.  Jupiter represents expansion, and philosophical thinking and the Forth House represents the home or the deepest parts of yourself.  So, Jupiter in the 4th House basically means that a lot of his energy will be focused on inner spirituality. Jupiter here indicates a wealthy background, too.

Now what starts to get interesting, is that he has his Sun and Mercury opposing Jupiter.  An opposition between planets is a harsh aspect, which can cause conflict within someone’s personality or life.  Having his Jupiter opposite Sun and Mercury indicates a couple of things.  First thing, this probably made him believe that he could do anything.  Jupiter expanded his Sun (personality) to the point where he felt like he would be safe no matter what he did.  At the beginning of the book, it mentioned that people thought he was crazy or narcissistic and this could be why.  Most narcissists believe they can do anything, but I’m not saying he’s narcissistic at all.  His confidence was just way beyond.  The second thing this indicates is that he was trying to find himself somehow.  His ego has been skewed from his spirituality and so he needed to find it somehow.  Lastly, this could simply indicate depression.

His Sun, Mercury, and Jupiter alone are all being squared by neptune.  A square is a negative aspect too.  Neptune, negatively, can indicate delusion.  It can also indicate very vivid dreams and fantasies that feel like they will never be achieved.  McCandless needed to find this idealized spirituality, which only made him want to push harder to find them.

This next part will be a bit of a mouthful, but looking at his 11th house, he has, Mars, Chiron, and Saturn.  The 11th house represents society and people.  Saturn here indicates isolation and loneliness.  Saturn is a restrictive planet.  McCandless most likely felt disconnected from people.  Mars is the way someone takes actions and expresses anger.  So, he probably was mad at society in general, but in a passive-aggressive way because it’s in the sign Pisces.  His Mars conjuncts (next to) Chiron in the 11th house opposing Uranus and Pluto in the 5th house.  The 5th House is like someones hobbies or creative pursuits.  Chiron is where someones deepest pain is.  Connecting with society or living like society was a nuisance.  The Mars opposite Uranus tells you that he was a very risky person.  Uranus represents sudden events.  Mccandless probably many sudden actions in life.  Pluto opposing Mars indicates actions taken that are secretive, power-driven, or death related.

Okay, so in a nutshell this means, he was confident, delusional and innovative enough to take the path he chose without really considering the consequences.  Combined with his desire for deeper sense within and aquarian nature, it makes a lot of sense why he just decided to journey into the wild far away from society.  He wanted to find a true purpose.  I’m really sorry to talk about his death, but the actions he took to journey into the wild (mars) were risky and out of the blue, such as giving away all his money and burning his possessions (uranus).  He took these actions in secret which ended up leading to his death.  He left without any of his family knowing and then he was finally discovered after he died nineteen days later (pluto).

It’s also interesting to note, that he has his Sun conjuncting his Midheaven (MC).  The Midheaven is someones public image.  The way in which large groups of people see you and how you affect them.  This makes a lot of sense because a lot of people learned about him and his story after he died, making him a rather public person.  Many people who have conjunctions to the MC or have a lot of planets in the 10th House are always on the news or seen by large amounts of people.

I realize that this was a rather negative interpretation and I’m sorry if I was offensive at all, but I just wanted to explain in the detail the things that really caught my eye.  There’s a lot more about his chart, but this is the gist of it.   He has many marvelous qualities in his chart that I have not mentioned and he’s, without a doubt, one of the most interesting and intelligent people I’ve learned about.
